Receptive Vocabulary

upon waves of porphyry she sailed
in her schooner burnished
that imbued my spirit once again.

unpugnaciously i waited while her tongue
spoke its cloudland words—
each breath a sweet equipage

carried her syllables like a dumbledore
to my ears, hardened by decrepitude
from your tumbling unheeding gyre

as we sat and ate sumac buds and dreamed.
